Learn the simple techniques to measure dry and wet ingredients accurately for your next baking project. HowTo: Family Edition: family how-tos that actually help.
- Measure dry ingredients. Scoop your ingredient into the dry measuring cup until it is overflowing. Use the flat edge of a knife to gently scrape across the top of the cup so the ingredient is perfectly level with the rim.
- Measure liquid ingredients. Place your liquid measuring cup on a flat, level surface like a counter. Pour your liquid slowly until it reaches the desired line, then bend down so your eyes are level with the mark to make sure it is exactly right.
- Check your work. Ask a grown-up to double-check your measurements before you mix everything together to ensure your recipe will bake just right.
